Common phrases you think you know, but you really have no idea.
Antioxidant: This is actually a very sweet story. You see, all day we’re surrounded by these hungry free radical molecules. They come from the streets, the sun, pollution, cigarette smoke (eek!)—and they’re ravenous! They’re missing an electron, and they spend all their time searching for their missing link. They’ll nab that extra electron from anywhere, like your DNA, your collagen, your elastin—basically anything that is essential for healthy, youthful skin. This is where antioxidants come in. They bind with (or stabilize) free radicals by selflessly offering up one of their electrons, throwing themselves in the line of fire so your skin remains intact and undamaged. Sigh, we just love a hero.

New Brand Alert! We are giddy over our newest brand, Clark’s Botanicals!
The Clark’s Botanical story may not have a happy beginning, but it certainly has a happy ending. In 2002, brand founder Francesco Clark—a Harper’s Bazaar editor at the time—suffered a tragic pool accident that left him paralyzed. The spinal cord injury also impaired his nervous system, which affected his ability even to sweat. As a result, Clark experienced chronically clogged pores and incessant breakouts that not even prescription skincare formulas could fix.
So in 2005, he partnered with his father, a physician trained in traditional Western medicine and homeopathy, to develop new solutions. Clark’s Botanicals formulas not only remedied Francesco’s complexion complications, it also became a way for him to express himself in a pure and simple form.
Countless fans—industry leaders, celebrities and skincare junkies alike—have since fallen in love with the effective formulas and the positive message behind them. While working on the line got Francesco back on his feet, as he likes to say, he also strives to help others by donating a percentage of Clark’s Botanicals profit to The Reeve Foundation, which funds spinal-cord-injury research and support. Check out the rest of his amazing products here.
